Dr. Ian Shaw
Dr. Ian Shaw is an experienced laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgeon who has been based on the north side of Brisbane for more than twelve years. Dr. Ian Shaw’s expertise in the laparoscopic approach to obesity, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, gallstone disease, abdominal wall and groin herniae, and colonic cancer. He also treats all intra-abdominal emergencies of a gastro-intestinal nature e.g. appendicitis, cholecystitis, and bowel obstruction or perforation.
Dr. Ian Shaw is a visiting surgeon at the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside, Chermside and the Northwest Private Hospital, Everton Park. He is also a part-time Senior Staff Specialist at the Prince Charles Hospital where he provides a general surgical service with a particular interest in upper gastro-intestinal surgery. Dr. Ian Shaw is also active in his role as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery for the University of Queensland.
Dr. Ian Shaw is dedicated to the treatment of obesity. Obesity is a disease, not a choice. Its management requires a holistic approach. Ian’s expertise is in determining the role of surgery, and choice of surgical procedure, in the management of this disease. Ian works within a high volume surgical centre which prides itself on good surgical outcomes.
